July 2011
CFE Polska is financing an artistic initiative „Avangarde Chopin 2011", which is organised by the „Awangarda" Foundation and the Fryderyk Chopin Museum in the National Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw.
The aim of the project is to promote the art created by mentally disabled artists, and more widely – to even their chances and appreciation of their talent, as well as promoting Polish art and culture.
The event will take place between 2 and 8 August in Żelazowa Wola – the birthplace of Poland's most renowned composer – and that is why Chopin is the main focus of the event.
10 disabled artists from across Poland will participate in the event. They will be accompanied by professional artists, among them Marie-Louise Bang, Edward Dwurnik, Piotr Młodożeniec and Guillherme Rodrigues.
Artists with mental disabilities are completely ignored, as a creative group. Their works is perceived through their disability, and they themselves cannot take care of professional promotion of their art. Cooperation with professional artists is intended to show a new artistic perspective, present new ways of rendering reality, emotions and experiences. The works created during the event will be presented in an exhibition aftewards which will be accompanied with a multimedia presentation in Żelazowa Wola and in the Chopin Museum in Warsaw.
